In addition, the city will develop a project to mobilize all resources to serve infrastructure investment in the area of 2018-2022; prioritize the development of public passenger transport (roads and waterways), a system of wharves for transport in order to attract people to participate; deploy solutions to limit the use of personal transport.
In 2019, Ho Chi Minh City strives to renew and put into use 75km of roads and 17 bridges. Road density reaches 2.14km / km². The rate of land reserved for traffic reaches 10.01% of urban construction land. The volume of urban public passenger transport meets 11.2% of the urban traffic demand. Number of cases, deaths and injuries due to traffic accidents decreased by 5% compared to 2018.
In 2020, Ho Chi Minh City strives to renew and put into use 81km of roads and 18 bridges. Road density reaches 2.2km / km². The proportion of land reserved for transport reaches 12.2% of urban construction land. The volume of urban public passenger transport meets 15% of the urban traffic demand. Number of cases, deaths and injuries due to traffic accidents decreased by 5% compared to 2019.
Total resources for implementing the program in this period are over VND 96,000 billion.
The city is also determined to bring metro No. 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien) into operation in 2020, speeding up the schedule of BRT route No. 1 on East-West Highway; metro line 2 (Ben Thanh – Tham Luong).
In addition, the city will complete investment in traffic control systems to run urban traffic this year; rearrangement of stopping positions, parking under the road, sidewalks; offer solutions to limit the use of roadways as parking spaces and expand the collection of street parking fees throughout the area.
The Executive Board of the Action Program to reduce traffic congestion, reduce traffic accidents in the period of 2018-2020 has 35 members, headed by the Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen.

The existing road surface will rise to 20cm – 30cm higher, without affecting the houses on both sides of the road. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2018 with a budget of about VND 250 billion.
North – South trunk road starts from National Road 22 (An Suong, District 12) to Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park, which is one of two radial axes of HCM City. In particular, the section from Nguyen Van Linh road to Ba Chiem bridge is the main axis in “HCMC transport planning to 2020 and vision after 2020” approved by the Government. 7.5 km long road, 29.5 m wide, including 6 lanes. Vietnam Highway Development Investment Corporation also said that it is urgently constructing the last three packages of Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway project to put this project into operation in early 2020. After completion of the road, there will be 8 high-speed lanes, 4 urban lanes and sidewalks on both sides, width of 74.5m. Total investment in phase 1 is over 6,707 billion VND.
